Journalism
I have five years' experience of writing lively, interesting copy for a wide-range of subjects and audiences. I am equally at home writing for glossy magazines and national newspapers to editing specialist magazines for professional organisations and contributing to B2B publications.
Since officially going freelance in 2003 I have built up a strong portfolio of clients' among them The Guardian, The Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, The Independent, and The Evening Standard.
I contribute regularly to women's glossies and have written for SHE, Eve and Glamour as well as For the Bride magazine.
I also have a good record with specialist magazines and have written for You Are What You Eat, Real World, QIA Journal, The Green Parent, Organic and Natural Business, Living Earth, Folio, Preventive Dentistry, Private Dentistry, Dentist Middle East, Scottish Dentist - who appreciate the fact that I submit highly readable copy to deadline.
I specialise in writing on dentistry and am the editor of Launchpad, the British Dental Association's (BDA) magazine for students and graduates, have a regular column in Dentistry magazine and have been editorial consultant for Vital, the BDA's magazine for the dental team. I am also contributing editor for Brand New You magazine responsible for the cosmetic dentistry pages.
I regularly edit and proof Food and Drink Guides for a number of different regions around the UK. I am also consumer editor for Venue magazine, Bristol and Bath's leading entertainment and listings guide.
In 2006 I worked in Australia where I wrote for a number of different lifestyle magazines and newspapers, including Scoop, the leading lifestyle magazine for Western Australia; The West Australian; Architect and Builder, a B2B magazine for the building industry and Safety Matters, the magazine of the Safety Institute of Australia.
My main areas of interest are health and wellbeing, work and careers, women's issues, international development and ethical living, however I enjoy working on a variety of different subjects.
